Brain body connection

Over the past two years I've taken a deep dive into all things relating to the body... I've unleashed the inner nerd.. the scientist... the curious explorer... I've been on a relentless search to understand more about how this fascinating body works. Initially this journey started due to a health crisis of my own, but now it's continuing on purely because I've found my life so much richer and my body, mind and spirit so much healthier and I want to "be well and stay well".
The podcasts that I've listened to (and there have been MANY) talk about having a scientific experiment of "one". So I've been experimenting on myself!
I've explored the link between gut health and mental health, exercise as a treatment for a range of conditions, holistic approaches to chronic pain, recovery from burnout, gratitude practices, self compassion, reducing the stress response, hormones.... the list goes on. Some things I've researched, trialled and thrown out as they weren't for me or just werent as effective as the data suggested. Other practices have become a part of my everyday - these are the 'gold'.
And what I've learned about what really makes us healthy, is that it's way more than the right medication, or the right diagnosis, or even the right psychological treatment approach. We need a more holistic approach.
This open minded approach to studying nutrition, movement, psychotherapy, and accessing intergrative medicine has revealed that radical transformations are possible. They don't occur overnight but the tools are there if we want to get well and stay well.
But as any curious scientist will attest - we never fully arrive. We always keep learning and the best way to fully absorb what we learn is to teach others. While this has been a very personal journey, it's inevitable that elements of what I've learnt AND practice daily would leak into my work with clients. The results have proved too good not to share!
If you want a sneak peak perhaps check out some of my favourite podcasts.... I really hope you find them helpful! My tip would be to listen with an open mind and take on board just ONE thing to trial. Making one small change is where it all begins!
